Funnily enough, Smaug himself was one of the only parts of the movie I wasn't disappointed by, and even that was only by a hair (the scale kept changing so often! it really pulled me out of the scenario :/). It's really dampened my excitement for the last one.

I can totally understand why people may have been disappointed by the movie, but I found it reasonably enjoyable. Of course, that might have been because I watched the first one in preparation, and the pacing was sooooooo much better in the second one that it was forgiven a lot of sins. And, if Jackson insists on shoehorning extra elves into his Hobbit movies, I'll take "random action-girl love triangle" over "Elrond talks politics with wizards while Galadriel paces and looks intense" very much please. Frankly, I find Jackson's elves a little ridiculous and jarring, so I wish he'd quit finding ways to give them more screentime. But, eh.

Smaug, I have no issues with.

I found the spacing in DOS to be just as bad, but instead of being too slow it was too quick. Like a lot of it was like "hi! bye!"
