I wouldn't call them award-worthy, but there are moments when this is a really good show. And that's what confuses me so much about it.

It gives us really great scenes that are touching and heartfelt and well done (or in other cases incredibly entertaining and funny), and then the next scene will be cheesy, badly written crap. It gives us some characters that are interesting, complex and well acted, next to characters who are so wooden and dull (either because of the writing or the terrible acting) that you want to punch the screen every time they appear. It occasionally gives you episodes that are really good TV (not The Wire!good, but good entertainment TV), and then an episode that's just god awful from start to finish, with plots that make no sense and horrible dialogues.

It's like this show can't decide if it wants to be a good quality show or complete trash, so it does both at the same time? Which is weird because the trash ruins the good stuff, but the good stuff keeps you from just not watching anymore.

Omg, THIS. Yes. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

It's driving me crazy. Every time I decide that I've had enough of the lovey-dovey trash, bad acting and lack of continuity, the show will turn around and do an utterly amazing episode, or a scene so gorgeous that I can't bring myself to stop watching. It's actually incredibly frustrating.

Incidentally, pretty much all of those amazing moments are to do with Stiles. I'm starting to think if they cut everyone else out and just did entire episodes about him the show would be 100 times better :)

lol, because that worked so well in the critically reviled season 3b, where stiles was forced into the position of main character and the quality dropped so sharply even the most hardcore fans hated it

I've seen so much hate for 3b and I just don't get it. I thought seasons 1 & 2 weren't that great but I loved 3b (aside from the Peter and Malia subplot. Why, God?). It was the first time that I genuinely liked Teen Wolf instead of just liking it for being lulzy and campy.

Actually most people hated 3a, not 3b? And Stiles was barely himself for half of 3b, so that hardly counts as "this is what happens when we focus on Stiles" because the show didn't focus on STILES, but on possessed-by-some-evil-spirit!Stiles.

Yeah I was exaggerating, they just have some really great scenes now and then that stand out and stick with me sometimes.

It's like this show can't decide if it wants to be a good quality show or complete trash, so it does both at the same time?

That scene from the first episode where the pack were doing badass poses with the glowy eyes *rolls eyes into space*
