Freeware online game that existed in the late '90s or early 2000s

I watched another kid play this on a school computer when I was in primary school. It pretty obviously wasn't an educational game, so I assume he found it on a website somewhere.

The player avatar was a blond girl with a ponytail, running through some kind of ruined landscape at sunset. The primary obstacle was green puddles of goo she had to jump over, but there were also purple monsters that she could kill with boomerangs. The player was really bad at avoiding the goo, because you had to avoid being next to it as well as landing in it--if you got too close, an angry face with red eyes would rise up out of the goo, and the player avatar would leap up in the air and vanish off the top of the screen. Game over.

On one occasion, I saw the player accidentally land the avatar in the goo. She rose up out of it once, frantically flailing her arms, and sunk back down. Then a stripped skeleton rose up, still flailing, and then sunk again. Game over.

I normally wouldn't have remembered this, but that flailing skeleton made quite an impression on me. Anyone else remember this game?

I don't remember a game like this, but also suggesting you try http://reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue/ which has more people who might be able to help. I've seen a lot of old game posts there before.
