Oh, secret poster, have you ever heard of "moving the goalposts"? There's a great female player? Oh, it's because she's trans and thus not REALLY a woman. If there was a cis woman there would be a different excuse, like "she has Asperger's and that's a MALE brain" or "she has two older brothers so she's not RAISED as a girl" or "she's ugly so it's not like she's ACTUALLY a woman" and so on and so on. Men who are that scared of women are always going to have an excuse.

Dear fucking lord this. Every time some moron bleats on about how women can't do x, and I point out that women can in fact do x, they immediately start telling me about how women who can do x "don't count" because "insert rationalization here". They're lesbians/former athletes/raised with brothers/"male-brained"/ugly so that's all she's had to do with her time. Not "real women", in other words.

When you've realized that they're defining "real women" as specifically "women who can't do x" then no fucking shit, the group of people who are defined as the people who can't do x, can't do x. Con-fucking-gratulations on your tautology, bro.

As someone with Asperger's, this line of reasoning really pisses me off. Just because I'm non-neurotypical and not so good at social situations shouldn't make me less of a woman. If I truly had a male brain, I'd be a trans man. Not to mention that it's about as bad as the "we only use 10% of our brains" in the Sloppy Neuroscience Journalism department.

My gender dysphoria stuff was initially misdiagnosed a Aspergers (I didn't believe it for a second, but who am I to know my own gender identity? [grumble grumblr I hope everyone has their sarcasm detectors on]). I'm a trans man. I think the people who make the definitions need to look long and hard and what constitutes an autism spectrum disorder and make sure the definition is clear enough that it can't be so easily confused with gender.

AYRT I know it's not true, sorry if I implied otherwise. I meant that it's a stupid excuse that I've seen for women being good at "manly" pursuits. It was a very popular theory for a long time, proposed by Professor Simon Baron-Cohen (father of the actor) and some psychiatrists still use it, which is just plain harmful.
