I'm convinced that Steve enjoys Billy Joel. He has a lot of nostalgic, era-spanning style elements, and I think the genuineness of some of the songs, like "Allentown" and "Goodnight Saigon" would resonate with Steve. And I can't help thinking of him when I hear "New York State of Mind."

Plus, it's amusing to think of him catching up on history and pop culture by going through "We Didn't Start the Fire" line by line.
