Unbelievably rude things

(Anonymous) 2014-07-30 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
you're surprised when people do. Mostly because I need to complain.

My roommate's playing the guitar on teh porch. It's 12:30am - half past midnight. If I was our neighbors, hell our landlord, I would hate her guts right now. I totally never expected her to do something this outrageously rude. She's better than passable, but still, I don't care how restless and antsy you are. Wait for the sun to rise.

Also when my other roommate watches netflix on the couch at full volume after 11:00pm. My wall is the living room wall, and he knows how thin it is because it use to be his room. Ugh.

Interesting... at my apartment, it's said right in the contract that you're not allowed to be playing any musical instruments on the premises.

You may want to check into that if you already haven't.

We're musicians living in the basement of a house, in a neighborhood with several of our class-and bandmates. Good suggestion, though, thanks. I'll look into that anytime I want to move somewhere -- because it's a dealbreaker, for me!

People who invite themselves over and nag and nag until you give in and invite them even if you don't want to (my parents have a lot of friends like that).

And worse, the ones who invite themselves over and then complain that you're not being the world's most obliging host...

People who think they have a license (one that never expires, apparently) to comment on every aspect of people's looks.

People who get so over the top butthurt that they have to tell you to SMILE, when YOU WERE MINDING YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS.

People who act like something is wrong with you if you aren't in a romantic relationship, or if you are, why you aren't married, or if you are married, why you don't have kids, etc.

People in general who act like someone else's life or lifestyle or very being is such a grand offense for which they have to police/be the judge and jury, especially when none of those things impact their lives at all.

People who ask you to do something then complain about how you did it are my biggest pet peeve. (Not in a work environment - it's understandable that there your actions would be critiqued. I'm talking trivial shit, like your friend asks you to buy a bag of chips then says, "Oh, I was kind of hoping you'd get Brand Y instead of Brand X" when you get back. I'm not a mindreader!)

I've always thought that people who throw stuff anywhere else besides a trashbin are so rude. I mean, what did the street ever do to you (or worse, when it's a closed space) and why are you doing that when there is a perfectly large and well fit trashbin a few meters from you.

People do this all the time, in my driveway. I was walking behind a guy and watched throw his half-full McD's drink cup in my driveway, and totally ignored me when I called him on it. I hope he felt really embarrassed, though.

When parents (mostly mothers, because of where I work) SHRIEK at their children when they're not listening. I suddenly understand this association between women and harpies.

This one woman, yesterday, KEPT SHRIEKING at her child from around the corner on the other side of the fitting rooms. Her little girl was being very quiet, if a little antsy, but this woman was being so impatient and rude. Ugh. I hate loud people in that space to begin with, it just made it so much worse. And i felt awful for the kid.

I don't understand people who scream at kids, or even pets. It doesn't help anything, the kid doesn't know why you're screaming, only that you're mad (and possibly that they're a bad kid), and it just makes the parent look like a fucking asshole with zero self-control. What the hell is that teaching the kid? If you're feeling impatient, it's perfectly okay to lose your shit and abuse someone smaller than you. Great message.

I used to live in a small apartment building with an equally small parking lot and only one driveway entrance. The asshole downstairs used to park in the driveway rather than going another 15 ft and actually parking. (Each unit had its own space, so there's really no excuse.) Not just for a minute or two, but for HOURS until someone told him to move his goddamn car.
