I don't necessarily find her storyline completely problematic because slavery is totally bad and ending it isn't wrong. But this scene is awful. And the show made it even worse by making everyone here but her a POC when in the books it seemed more like a mix.

In the books it was absolutely a mix and they should have done something about it.

I really don't know how people can NOT get that this scene pretty much mirrors how she sees herself, and then the new season direclty proceeds to tell us that "you thought you were the great white savior? well, think again."

I cringed at the scene when I first saw it. Now, in retrospect, I really admire how they managed to make her relatively cheesy story such a great chain of motifs.

It's just like the Dragons flying over the little girl to then roast and eat a goat in the first episode. You *know* something is not quite right with how the scene plays out, because from the way it is built up, it would be the little girl getting attacked. And then, well, last episode. The long awaited and horrible catharsis.
