Daily reminder, white empires lead to slavery being at its lowest point in the last three thousand years and it's increased since their collapse.

Citation.

Or, you know, you could perhaps re-read your sentence and back away slowly.

It's called boku no google.

It's not my job to educate you.

Ah. I see. It's just your job to put blanket statements out there without being able to back them up, whilst hoping that a response I'm certain you thought came off as both edgy and intelligent would be an adequate substitute.

Bless your heart.

There's a statistic I've seen going around that says there are more slaves now than at any other point in history, but I think it's worth noting that older statistics on slavery (and please correct me if I'm wrong), don't include everything that our stats do today. Forced prostitution, child soldiers, child brides, etc. I assume the older stats only account for chattel slavery for the most part?

Anyway, that aside:

a) the population of the world is much larger today.
b) 'white empires' still exist, even if not in the traditional sense (i.e. holding a bunch of countries). Western countries still hold a massive amount of power and influence, and a lot of slavery, even if indirectly, results from that (or from their past colonial occupations).
c) The vast, vast majority of slaves are still non-white people.

Hi - this is excellent contextual information. Thank you - context is everything and the poster to whom I rather snippily replied annoyed me because it appeared to me that her or his comment smelled a lot like troll bait ... sort of veiled "see? White People Make it Better!!" I probably shouldn't have been quite so thin-skinned.

No that's honestly how their comment came across to me as well. I don't think you were being particularly thin skinned.

(I'm reading up on percentages now, and yeah, while the actual number may be higher, the percentages of populations that were enslaved in the past were much higher than they are in the present.)

This is a good comment.

Much of what we call "slavery" now wasn't once always considered so. It's still wrong and horrible, though. Slavery is technically illegal everywhere now - the last country to make that official was in like 1997 or something? - so technically nobody owns anyone else, but just because it's not on paper doesn't make it real. A few centuries ago, though, a lot of what we consider slaves today wouldn't have even registered.

tl;dr: I agree

It is your job to back up the arguments that you make. Telling other people that they should cite your sources for you is not only lazy, it also makes it look as if you're just pulling shit out of your ass.
