One, the advantage and the flaw of working in a televisual medium is that images matter.

Second, it's admittedly been quite some time since I read the book, but I don't recall anything complicating things in a racial direction specifically.

So I don't know how much any of that goes to ameliorate this problem specifically. Of course, I don't think it's all that big of a problem; it's a shitty, poorly-chosen shot with bad implications, but nothing's perfect.

Not a racial direction, but definitely a cultural one. It's pretty clear in the books she doesn't understand the culture of the people she's trying to rule, and that's causing problems for the very people she's trying to help.

but, well, in the books it would have to be cultural since I got the impression that there was a racial mix in the cities she freed. whereas on TV...
