Are you people person?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-31 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
And yes, I do realize I'm essentially asking this to a den of nerds.

No. I very much like interacting with certain kinds of people, but in a general sense, I would rather spend time alone than thrown in with a bunch of them. Edit: I'm not sure if I need to state that "a bunch of them" excludes my friends. I like spending time with my friends.

Yes and no.

I like being alone, but then I have a huge social circle and am actually very fond of the people I call friends. Probably more than they know, because I'm bad at expressing it.

I guess so... I'm content spending time with a group of people provided they're pleasant and I'm also content being by myself.

I would like to be, but I find that what I find acceptable is different than other people. It's not like "What, you don't think dead baby jokes are funny?" but "you didn't catch my sly joke there and now we're standing around awkwardly."

Much more so than I used to think I was before I got my social anxiety sort of under control. I found I actually like meeting new people when it's not making me panic and after spending a lot of time as a shut-in I realized how important regularly talking to my friends is for my well-being.

I am very much a people person, I go stir crazy if I don't talk to other people

I love people! People are awesome.

Un fortunately I'm autistic, so I do struggle to understand people and social interaction exhaust me. Definitely a people person in spirit though. :)

Definitely not unless it's a small, select group of people, but I can fake it with strangers when necessary.

I am pretty much the opposite of a people person and tend not to attend parties unless I know there will be an animal there I can converse with so as to avoid having to interact with the other humans.

I mean, people are generally okay, I just don't really know what they want from me and therefore always feel like anything I say or do around them will be a disappointment. On the flipside, a cat or dog generally wants to be petted or scritched in a favorite spot, and maybe a treat.

Not at all. I have embraced my status as a cat lady.

Yes. Love parties, love random small talk, love conversation, love going out and doing fun things with people.

Unfortunately, my work/home situation is kind of isolated right now :(

Technically yes, practically no. I WOULD be a huge people person if I got to spend more time around the type of people I like to be around. But I don't.

I am now. After I learned extroversion and better social skills, my experience of the world improved markedly. Other people are INTERESTING!

Noooooope. I'd much rather be in a room full of animals than people.

I wouldn't call myself a people person, but I don't have problems dealing with people.

I think so. I'm okay chatting with strangers in public, and I'm frequently the one who starts the conversation. On the other hand, my group of friends is small, I don't see them often, and I'm an introvert. But when I'm in a social situation, I'm good with it.

Re: Are you people person?

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2014-08-01 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
My career requires that I be socially competent, and as far as work and school situations you could say I have been able to navigate social interactions with ease since high school. I'm very very good at reading people, which just kind of comes with the territory. I have absolutely no problem mingling or making friends/acquaintances.

The truth about how much I care for social interaction is that I'm extremely introverted and I don't have many friends that are close to me. I rarely go out. However, because of my very polished public persona, most people I work with would never guess that about me.

I have a circle of very close friends who I must interact with every day or I get pretty depressed though, so I'm not really asocial. I'm just prefer specific types of relationships.

No. I like people but I'm not the best at small talk and I'm an anxious person. If I get too nervous I blank.

Sometimes I enjoy talking to strangers (imo it can be easier than people you're acquainted with) but I don't like parties or large social gatherings.
