Well, her hairstyle isn't exactly helping things here.

Yeah, I looked twice at the picture and thought yeah, I could see why someone would make that mistake with a quick glance.

What's with all the hate? Why is OP an awful person? IDGI man

It does connect to the way a lot of white people act like all people within another racial group look the same, so I kinda get the hate. But I can also see why someone would make this particular mistake.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-01 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
So it's racist now to say that you mistook someone who has the distinctive hair and sunglasses of a famous figure, for the famous figure?

I'm asian and I'm laughing at all the white people offended on our behalf. I'd make the same mistake at a glance

I'm Asian too, and I didn't. The fact that the lady has a lot more hair, wasn't dressed like Kim Jong-il's distinctive uniform and was standing next to George Takei was a rather big clue. So... *shrug*

(Anonymous) 2014-08-01 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
SA

And, how do we know OP isn't asian too?

I'm like more offended by that list of asian film recs that's filled with (lol) martial arts and (lol) wu xia, as though asian films don't have typical Hollywood-style romcoms and action flicks too. But nooo that's not ~asian enough~ rofl

God this is why I hate sjws

(Anonymous) 2014-08-01 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
The list also included romance, adventure and horror, but don't let that get in the way of your mockery. If you have rom com and non-martial-arts action flick recs to share, why not do that instead of tearing down someone else's recommendations?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-01 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the anon who posted that list, definitely not an SJW, and you can go fuck yourself.

When people post lists of movie recommendations, they tend to be skewed toward MOVIES THEY ENJOY. Which mine was. I'd say I'm sorry for enjoying movies you don't approve of, but I'm really not.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-01 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Because anything that implies you think that all Asians look like is a thing racists do.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-01 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
But OP never said that wtf. They said they mistook an asian person for another asian person and they *did* share distinctive traits in this case

I'm asian btw

(Anonymous) 2014-08-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
You're right, they didn't say that. But they're clearly aware of that mindset and it's the reason why they felt bad for making the mistake because they probably don't wish to be associated with people who think that all Asians look alike.

I'm also Asian. You don't have to think the OP is a bad person in order to understand why they're embarrassed by what happened.
