Haha, this is it exactly for me. I was looking at TwoP the other day and saw a thread where people were going, "Really, Thirteen's not that bad! She's pretty cool! A lot of people just can't stand her because she reminds them of Cameron, and after we had to put up with Cameron for three seasons, who'd want another one?! But she's not really like Cameron, so she's okay!"

More evidence in favor of my "fandom prefers shallow characters to developed ones" theory.

Yeah, it's sad. I just find characters that aren't flawed to be...utterly unbelievable, because everyone has flaws. And yeah, Cameron pissed me off half the time, but the other half I thoush she was awesome. Besides, even when she was getting on my nerves, I respected her character, and liked her development.

Honestly House has been shoddily written this season anyhow, but I wish 13 would be developed just a tiiiny little bit. She's so bloody boring right now. I mean, yeah, sure, "nice" but boring. :/

Uh, you're Jenn's DS9 friend, right? Want to friend? You'd be the only person on my friendslist that I don't know in real life, and I'm a busy college student, so my livejournal is far from the epicentre of interesting, but the invitation's there? *shrugs*

No doubt 13 does have flaws--but the show can't be bothered to show them to us. :/ I agree, the writing this season is shaky. But then, a lot of what went down last season (the rapid reversion to status quo after the awesome that was the S2 finale; the Tritter arc; "One Day, One Room"; what I thought was a fumbling, lackluster finish) really turned me off the show, so I don't have much invested in it anymore.

That I am, and sure, if you don't mind my rambling off about a lot of other fandoms as well. ;)

Yeah, me too, I only catch it every other week or so. Still, I keep hoping it'll turn good again.

New ducklings was a good start, (change is interesting) but bad writing and sloooow character development? Those I can do without. Also, when they're even writing House out of character, it's time to reconsider.

Seriously now? She isn't shallow character, the show just hasn't have her give much of her because they want her to remain a *mystery* for some reason. That doesn't make the character shallow as of yet. In my opinion, 13 will only become shallow if the show refuses to show anymore of her or gives a craptastic reason why she didn't show more of herself.

I really dislike it when people jump on the "Omg! Character rip off!" bandwagon when we haven't really SEEN much from 13. Way to quickly judge guys, go team!

I'll be honest, 13 does what Cameron wouldn't do right, in my opinion. 13 is emotional but not annoyingly so. And how is it that someone must be annoying in order to have depth? That doesn't make any sense.

And seriously? Have you (or anyone for that fucking matter) seen the episodes? 13 is flawed. What kind of doctor leaves a patients room without making sure they took their medication? (Does the dog episode ring any bells?) She fucked up royally. 13 also has the possibility to have a crippling disease in the future, but refuses because she wants to live her life normally, not wanting a "countdown". How isn't that NOT character depth?

God. I'm so sick of this. Just because Cameron was a bundle of emotions doesn't make her better or worse than 13 who refuses to show her emotions openly. Different personalities, different characters.

Cameron had her time and place, and it's better for the show that it moves on without her.

I also don't get it why people insist that this season had horrible writing. Because new characters are introduced? The old characters/chemistry is old. It's refreshing to see the old characters thrown into different situations, it makes them grow and *gasp* have more character depth.

I'm done. I don't care if it's tl;dr or a long rant.
