I would give you a link to the fifth chapter, but they seem to have replaced the site with a forum (http://www.crimsonkobalds.com/hol) that you have to join in able to get it (at least I think). Honestly, I'm afraid to register. >.>

Sadly, I was able to hear both the English and Japanese versions of his voice saying that line. XD

And not even then! That quest really made me notice the game's tendency to build up a smaller event and follow it up with a poor (if any) execution. With that one especially, they did absolutely nothing whatsoever when they were actually going through the dungeon, then attempted to explain it in an e-mail. It was like CC2 forgot what they were doing and then lazily tried to cover it up. Silabus was gypped. D:<

The one moment of his behavior that disturbed me the most was his e-mail asking if Haseo would go on a quest with him after I think the first arena battle. He was stuttering very badly in his own e-mail. Who does that in type without role-playing or joking around? It scared the heck out of me, and it makes me angry that CC2 never even bothered to explore what was going on with him. *sighs* I doubt Silabus is going to be in Trilogy, though. I'll be surprised if he even has a cameo.

Sorry for ranting. I get pretty passionate about these things. XD

Oooh, I saw that site...but wasn't sure if the address was wrong or not. Freaky. :o I'll probably register

I love G.U. to PIECES...it's definitely on of my favourite installments to .hack, but I really, REALLY wished more emphasis was placed on the other supporting characters. Really they just had TOO MANY...and, yeah, the epitaph users are important and needed their story...but then just make the game LONGER or something! I wish a lot of the issues weren't just solved in an email. :/ At least give Silabus some spotlight...I mean he helped to change Haseo, too.

I NOTICED THAT EMAIL. I remember getting all excited thinking he was going to reveal this HUGE OMG crushing info aaaaand...NADA. Haseo didn't even ask WHAT was up...or notice. o.O; They seemed to use Gaspard a lot to convey what was wrong with Silabus...and while it was cute, I would still much rather Silabus have been more focused on.

And don't worry about ranting. XD I'm enjoying this~

THANK YOU! You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear someone say that about the game's treatment of the characters. I adore G.U., but the way it spotlights its characters annoys me. It's one thing to cram too many focal characters into a single story, but G.U. was split into three bloody games and CC2 STILL got lazy with the characters. It's like they didn't know what to do with the supporting cast. In G.U.+ and what looks to be in Trilogy, they even cast Endrance and Sakubo off to the side. =(

I remember Hiroshi Matsuyama's reason for the wedding events at the Altimit Corp forums when they were still around. To paraphrase: it was going to be Haseo and Atoli's wedding, but in able for the audience to stay with the characters they extended it, or something like that. Maybe I'm the only one, but I can't help feeling they only did so because they realized the audience gave half a damn about other characters besides Haseo and Atoli. The characters were part of the reason I fell in love with .hack in the first place and in my opinion is what makes the series as strong as it is. I realize Matsuyama wanted to do a coming-of-age story and he can do what he wants with it, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who noticed the Gaspard thing either. It was like Silabus couldn't do anything without him around, even though he has shown he is more than capable of busting out on his own! I never understood why Gaspard was favored over Silabus, as I find him to be a much dryer character (I do like him, for the record). It must be the cuteness factor. *laughs*

I seem to have this curse with games...I ALWAYS, without fail, end up liking one character the most and they ALMOST ALWAYS get shafted! Or killed off. I mean, I love Haseo just fine and I really adored ALL of the characters in G.U. (I WISH Kuhn and Pi got more...time together), but they really fizzled out with the supporting cast at the end. Volume 1 seemed like it was going to be good for focusing on the supporting cast- but by volume 2 you saw it change. D:

I never looked around those much...I was registered there, but posted maybe once or twice. But, bah, I never knew the reason for the wedding event. Though it doesn't surprise me in the least. I think they realized that many people just found Atoli annoying. I know I did...I didn't care for her at ALL until Haseo took her out into that field and blasted her for not wanting to get involved in the arena... I liked her after that and she did grow, but...there were so many other characters to focus on that I liked. The .hack series has always had amazing characters- even the ANNOYING ones like Sora I found intriguing. But...something about G.U. is way different...and it's that it actually FOCUSES on a canon relationship. Really, a part of me is happy to finally see one in the series, but I'm still bitter about others being left out to enjoy it. Maybe if they fleshed the supporting cast out more...and made it so you could MARRY the other guys (and appeal to more tastes) it would have worked out better.
And...god...Returner. >.>;;
I loved it because it brought Ovan back and had Tabby and Sakisaka...AND THAT IS ALL.
You only got to see Alkaid's back. >.>

Wait...Gaspard is favoured over Silabus? I have yet to speak with a single .hack fan that even LIKES Gaspard! I think I'm the only one. o.O But...ya know, they really turned Silabus into a bit of a whiner in volume 3. I'm not sure if that sits right with me at all. Granted maybe it was more so that Silabus was just being overprotective OF Gaspard...but even Gaspard whined less.

I admit to being curious as to who you are, but I'm not active in fandom communities at all- so I couldn't guess. I'd ask to friend, but then you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. XD;

Still checking this, wut?

I'm just displeased with some of the decisions The Powers That Be made with the game. It has a good story, but its execution became sloppy in the second volume and picked itself back up only a little bit in the third. Because of it many more interesting characters wound up ignored, or others were brought in with no point to them whatsoever (Hetero). I love Haseo and Atoli, but there are characters I find to be more interesting than them.

I liked the wedding events, but I agree they were kind of disrespectful towards those who like Haseo with another guy (I only say kind of because they could have been omitted altogether). Even Endrance's "wedding", as entertaining as it is, is played out to be a joke. Sad...

I meant Gaspard is favored in the game. Not quite so in fandom, though most of the Japanese fanart I've seen him in is adorable. XD But yes, I remember Gaspard getting at least a chunk of character development while Silabus remained virtually ignored, which confuses me in the highest. I never noticed Silabus being whiny in volume 3. I noticed he got shafted whenever he was obviously distressed yet again (especially noticeable after Gaspard decides to open the shop again after he protests, then he just runs off never to be seen again even if you go after him). I would say his "wedding" event was disappointing too, but that could just be me being a rabid fanbrat. XD

Tabby and Sakisaka made Returner. They and Ovan's last scene were really the highlights of it. Fan-and-crew-favorite Alkaid was gypped on all 3 seconds of her "cameo", and then there was the strange decision behind Silabus and Gaspard being unallowed to show their faces. Pardon my French, but Jesus CHRIST CC2 and/or Bee Train, do you not like them at all or something?
