Sadly I have never read it or seen it performed but thanks for the torture fic recs anyway friend, I'll check them out. :)

They're both pretty short and probably effective enough if you just have a general idea of the historical setting.
For "Ultima Forsan", all you need to know is Bushy and Green are on the wrong side of a mediaeval political mess and are about to get their heads lopped off.
"Of the first nothing the elixir grown" is a little more involved; the PoV character is king Richard II after he's been deposed by his cousin, and he's rotting away in prison. Shakespeare has him assassinated, but the historical person was supposedly starved, and that's what the fic plays on.
