I have no recs, sadly, but we can imagine that Gandalf got all the snuggles in his short time in Valinor between getting dead via Balrog and rematerialising dressed in white.

Actually, I want to read that fic now, and it'd better not be shippy.

I think the fic I most want is Gandalf in a puppy pile of healing hobbits in Minas Tirith after Pippin tells him his fool's hope paid off and Gandalf just has a moment of being a crying old man because for once his friends didn't die and they just have to snuggle the crap out of him because this is a tried and true hobbit method of fixing problems. Optional three hunters standing in the doorway very, very quietly leaning on each other because this was not a thing they expected to see and they're being all manly and choked up about it.

I just want Gandalf hugs where he is an awesome but battered old wizard who has seen hell and would like some damn snuggles now, thanks.

I want this fic, too!

In my hypothetical Valinor one, Gandalf would be surrounded by Valar and other Maiar, so for one he wouldn't have to be the wise and heroic and strong person everyone is always looking up to, he could be little. So he'd sit amidst Lórien's flowers and people would bring him whatever they have for icecream in Valinor.

It says a lot about Gandalf's life that the people he can be most himself around and the people who demand least from him are either the biggest beings in the world, or the smallest.

And also when he comes back to Middle Earth, there is the unseen time he spent in Lothlorien, as he was getting his bearings again. I do like the idea of Galadriel being a supportive comfort at that point.
