Wow, I always thought my reasons for loving h/c were pretty universal, but I guess not ;-) I like to see my favorite character being hurt because I want to see the other significant character (brother, partner, etc.) show worry and concern and anguish over the injury or illness or peril, etc. Since, say, Sam Winchester is my favorite, I want to see Dean agonize over him because it shows how much he loves him. I like that because it puts my fave in the spotlight of concern, lol. And since I like him best, I want proof that others like or love him as well.
