The trailer has a line reading 'I love you so much' while showing the two girls interacting and then later has one girl yelling to another "Anna! My beloved Anna!" You really think that's 100% pure friendship platonic no one could ever see a ship in that ever unless they're delusional? There's 'people interpreting two good friends as lovers because their eyes met once and they smiled' and 'people interpreting two good friends as lovers because they actually said they love each other.' Yes, it can be close friendship and in this case that looks like the intent, but people keep acting like the shippers pulled it out of nowhere magically. There are plenty of popular ships based on way less.

And those popular ships based on way less are equally ridiculous, so your point?

It's a movie based on an old British children's book. Phrases like "my beloved Anna" were common parlance back in the day and nothing romantic was meant by them, that was just how people talked back then. Context is important here.
