My favorite character IS heroic and strong and compassionate and a good friend, all the damn time. Canon's already got that part covered. What it hasn't got is other people being kind and compassionate and taking care of him, and let me tell you, the guy is badly in need of some TLC. He's continually getting the shit kicked out of him, and his so-called best friend treats him like crap more often than not.

So yeah, I want to see someone be gentle with him, pay attention when he's hurt, take care of him and put his needs first for a change. Since it never happens in canon, I look for it in fic.
