are you serious

(Anonymous) 2014-08-02 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
If you have an argument make it

(Anonymous) 2014-08-02 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not even really an argument.

The things that she's referring to and defending as legitimate actions against Hamas are exactly the things that critics of Israel call genocide. If you want to argue that they're actually perfectly justified and that calling them a genocide is wrong, that's fine, but I honestly don't see how you can fail to understand why people are saying what they're saying. The fact that she's defending it in terms of defending the country does not change what she's defending.

SA - like, to be clear: I can understand why you would say that she's not supporting genocide. That's fine. But your post has this weird air of "This doesn't make any sense to me, I don't understand how anyone could accuse her of supporting genocide, all she said was that she supports Israel's fight against Hamas" and that's what's weird to me.

AYRT

Ah, well, I don't know where this "weird air" came from. The intention was that she's clearly not supporting genocide.

The IDF is committing genocide, or at very least ethnic cleansing, so by supporting the IDF in their actions she is supporting the genocide they are committing.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-02 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It does not. And she is not.

DA

I feel both sides are wrong, so I'm not going to defend EITHER Israel OR Palestine in this thread (yeah yeah I am like, the only on earth, I know I know), buuuuuuuuuut, regardless to what the IDF/Hamas has done or not done (I don't trust mainstream media one bit, and all of the non-mainstream media is far too biased to one side or the other), you can't deny that the settlers are encroaching upon the borders previously agreed upon, specifically in order to break the peace/drive the Palestinians out. This is why Britain Yearly Meeting (Quakers) issued a boycott of all settlement-produced goods, along with a list of unsanctioned settlements, some years ago.

1) This has nothing to do with Gaza since there has been no settlements in Gaza (and no Jews too) since 2005. You can't deny that Israel pulled out exactly as everyone wanted it to from the Gaza strip but instead of furthering peace that helped Hamas take power in the strip and launch thousands of rockets into Israel. You can't seriously advocate for Israel to pull out of the West Bank unless you address that security concern- ie that a terror organization would take over the West Bank as soon as they're out and fire thousands of rockets into Israel's most densly populated area, the one that's right on the border with the Best Bank, and is in a strategically unsafe location because the West Bank is a mountainous area and Israel's central territory is low and vulnerable.

2) Still no genocide.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-02 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
it came from you quoting a thing that she said in support of Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and then asking why someone would consider that supporting genocide

it is really difficult for me to believe that you don't know that Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip are the thing that Israel's critics think is genocide. so my assumption is that you're being sarcastic or willfully obtuse about it.

idk, whatever, you do you
