Yep! Pretty much. Doing something [harmless] for fun is fine. Headcanoning someone as trans 'cause it makes you feel good is fine. Headcanoning someone as trans because you see them as trans as fine.

Headcanoning someone as trans under the belief that it's actually doing something for trans representation though is just kind of ridiculous. Fanworks aren't canon, and even if 100% of fanworks had X character as trans, it wouldn't change the fact that the source material has no trans people in it whatsoever.

Fix-it fic is fine, and headcanoning Hanji or Chihiro as trans may be fun, but I don't think it's actually an activist act and the way the gender-cliques act like anyone doing otherwise is actively hurting trans people just makes me want to hurl.

Your original comment in reply to the secret suggests that OP is 100% correct in hating all trans headcanons ever because the people who write them are shouty morons doing it for SJ points. How is that not obvious to you.

The "Because X Y Z" format of my initial reply should have clued you in to the fact that I was answering OP's question, not commenting on their personal feelings toward trans headcanons.

Jan: "I hate blue cars! Why are there so many damned blue cars here?"

Katie: Because we work at a car dealership specializing in blue cars?

If you think that Katie is making a statement of any kind on the part of Jan's statement that states her feelings towards blue cars (or in OP's case, trans headcanons) then you need to work on your reading comprehension my anonymous friend.

da - your initial response was dismissive as fuck and it looks like backpedalling now.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-pop?

Except the OP didn't even say they "hate all trans headcanons ever," they said trans headcanons make them uncomfortable particularly in certain fandoms.
