Re: Spoilers!
*slams head into desk making screeching noises*
They were both my favourites as well(I think Rocket a little more so because every word out of his mouth was gold to me), Drax was my surprise enjoyment in the movie because I wasn't expecting a huge deal from him, but he was good. I wished we had more Nebula tbh, I liked what we got but for me it wasn't enough. But all the main cast were absolutely great and I will more than happily chuck my money at Marvel for a sequel.
It was good fun with some more serious moments thrown in and all in all it really worked.
Re: Spoilers!
I knew I'd adore Rocket but was still pleasantly surprised at Cooper's performance and the depth of his character. The bit where he talks about being taken apart again and again and protests being called a rodent killed me. I just wanted to hug him. Also, pet him. I might have actually aww'd whilst crying at Drax petting him.
And agreed; I figured Drax was going to be some heavy hitter who almost never spoke and didn't bring much to the film, but instead he was as much fun as any of them and unique to boot. The whole, “He takes everything literally” thing was a nice touch.
IA, Nebula was cool, and I'd even kind of like her and Gamora to team up in the future Ala Thor and Loki. Howeve, even if unlikely, iI'd like that alliance to last. (It wouldn't. Sigh.)
The serious scenes were some of my favorites! Marvel is good at pulling the good old heartstrings.
Re: Spoilers!
His crrrryyyying while holding the last bits of Groot, no Marvel, that was mean. His 'I didn't ask to be made!' line was the one that really got me, poor little dude. Drax petting him was super-adorable and I would have done the same.
Yeah he was surprisingly great, him along with Rocket had me laughing the most tbh, but Peter also had good lines. They all had good lines.
I was also hoping to get a bit more of Nebula and Gamora interaction as well, so since she lived I'm kind of crossing my fingers that we might get that in a future film. Ohmygosh a Nebula+Gamora team-up ala Thor+Loki would be amazing! I want it!
They packed a lot into this movie and it didn't feel like too much, which was good. Though having said that Ronin was a little under-developed, but I liked him well-enough and Lee Pace did a good job tbh.
Re: Spoilers!
boyfriendBFF dies” sounds like fanfic. I'm so glad Marvel decided to take a chance with this!I like how every character got their moments to shine, in both a more serious scene and funny moments. It made them feel like well rounded, complex characters, even if we don't know them very well yet. Rocket's scene was a standout for me though, partially because of how unexpected it was. I knew Drax would likely have a few important scenes dealing with his wife and kid, and then Peter got several larger moments dealing with his mother (which all killed me, btw; Especially the volume 2 mix tape and thinking Gamora was his mom and reaching for her this time), but yup, Rocket was a pleasant surprise. Poor Rocket... Poor everyone. I want a group hug.
If you can find them the prequel comics are pretty good! There's one for Rocket and Groot and another for Gamora and Nebula, and they both provide a nice bit of insight into both relationships.
Maybe Nebula can team up with them next film! I want that pretty badly because she was badass and sexy, and you know how I feel about sexy siblings... (I'm awful, I know.)
Is it Ronin? Oops, I don't even know how to spell his name, haha. I think he was quite great in that last scene, but other than that... I haven't been impressed by any of Marvel's non-Loki villains. And I grow tired of Loki betraying everyone, so I just hope that maybe Nebula can play a bigger part next time. Even if she's the main villain and we don't get a team up, just make it interesting!
BTW, I'm amused because months ago we said “We are soooo shipping Rocket and Groot” and here we are.
Re: Spoilers!
Yes, yessss. Not one character took over the entire film, I was initially thinking that maybe Peter would, but no! They all got a chance to shine and have some mention of a back-story and even if we don't know them very well yet, I want to get to know them more. Well you know me and my belief that all Marvel films should contain group hugs, so I cannot fault your idea there. (ugh the fucking mix-tape and the letter, like I was initially going 'Starlord is a little silly but eh, superheroes' then when we found out why he calls himself that I was like 'I WILL DEFEND HIS RIGHT TO CALL HIMSELF STARLORD TO THE DEATH' just man, feelings for everyone in this damn movie).
Ohooo, I must hunt them down because I am very much interested in seeing more Rocket+Groot and Nebula+Gamora interaction.
Ngl when she first turned up and I heard her voice I swooned slightly, hot damn she was one sexy mofo. (I am no better myself).
You know I have no clue, I saw you type Ronan below and I went 'shit I messed up the spelling' but couldn't be assed to correct it, and now I no longer know. I think it might have been Ronan? Idk. I didn't pay enough attention to the credits this time. Yeah his last stand was pretty cool, plus his ship was awesome looking, and IA they really need to step up the game with their non-Loki villains. He's their favourtie to write but they need some others that are also well-written and thought out tbh, they can't just rely on him to draw people in.
This is why I should never joke about these things, it always ends up being more serious than I originally intend.(Yet I never learn, lol).
Re: Spoilers!
Ngl, Nebula might've been the hottest person in this film. I'm shallow and pay attention to this kind of thing. And dat voice! I could've watched her destroy shit forever.
Haha, I wasn't even joking when I said it... I just know myself and my shipping habits. Oh, me...
