My focus is less on memories and more on essential self, but the pieces bit is very similar.

I'm not familiar...Google doesn't seem to go into much detail beyond ghosts meeting and there's a unicorn. So I couldn't tell you :)

Yeah, it's way better than Google describes it. :-P The premise is basically what you stated; the story itself chronicles the journey of two souls on their way to that happy final union.

Interesting. I suppose one difference between my worldview and most ideas of reincarnation I've learned about is the absence of any final anything. Except for consciousness (in the sense we understand it) and memories and all that, which ends at death, in my view. Everything else goes on and on.
