nayrt Maybe people feel defensive because of the prevalence of "This is problematic, and if you like/endorse it you are literally garbage." Not that I've personally seen so much of that, but some rants about how things are problematic are written in a very aggressive way.

I kind of treat those rants the same way other people treat these "problematic things". I keep the parts I like or agree with and ignore the rest. If they're trying to make me feel guilty, too bad for them. I have a different philosophy from them and they haven't yet talked me out of it.
