Agreed completely on the "JOHNLOCK" comment. Like, I ship some slash ships pretty hardcore, but when I think about LGBT rights, I'm thinking about classmates from college, colleagues from work, the professor I worked for who has a partner and an adorable adopted son (and who would love to marry his partner in the US). It pisses me off when people look at basic human rights and are all SHIPPING!!!! about them. I understand that sometimes it might be satirical, but that's really hard to tell over the internet. Have a bit of sense people.

Conversely, I get tired to the SJW who get their panties in a knot because OMG you ship two white dudes instead of the canon interracial pairing! WHITE DICK FENCING! You racist misogynist! Like…get off your high horse. Christ, I'm not saying WOC are unlovable wenches, you dipshit. I just have a different perspective. If I think the author can't write for shit then that's MY OPINION. Chill out. Your opinion isn't made less legitimate because of mine. What happens onscreen isn't changed just because I interpret it differently.

And agreed about respecting the author. I don't think there's a single fan who will love EVERYTHING about a work. And we all look at things differently -- it's not a big deal.

Yeah. Honestly I can't even tell what's satirical and what's just people being insane asshats anymore.

Yeah. really not all of us are shipping to show off how "open minded and tolerant" and "not racist/sexist/homophobic" we are. Most of us just like a pairing. I get tired of people acting like not shipping it is some kind of "act of hate" against them. We're just dorks rooting for fictional people to get their freak on.

also the idea of "disagreeing with the creator is disrespect" just plain offends my intelligence. There's not necessarily anything wrong with different opinions and they don't hurt anyone.
