Yeah, she was hurting a lot just in the past few days - breathing hard and looking like she was in pain - and having trouble moving. That part was hard, though she was still wagging her tail and eating food with enthusiasm, even today, so I'm happy she had at least a small bit of her quality of life.

Thank you so much. <3 My siblings both left the house because they didn't want to be here when it happened. My sister was only two when we adopted her - she probably doesn't even remember life without her.

Ugh, that's a terrible thing to have to watch happen. :( When our girl passed she could barely walk, wouldn't eat and didn't have any livelihood left in her. It was difficult to let her go, but not really any worse than watching her suffer. It's a shit thing to have to go through, but at least she kept a bit of her spark, you know?

I understand them leaving, but I also get staying. Being with a dog that long...they're part of your family and it's hard to remember what life was like before they came along. (If it's their first experience with death, that makes it even worse.) I hope you all manage! I know it'll be tough, though.

Thank you for the kind words. ♥

Yes, and I'm so happy she was herself to the end. She was tired, in pain, and ready to go, but she never lost herself. She was still determined to follow her routine and enjoy the little things she could, and that's a blessing.
