Lists like those strike me more as stuff they watched, liked a lot, and would enjoy discussing/occasionally seek out fanworks rather than that they actively make fanworks or join forums for. Some people use them as stuff they've ever been pretty into too.

I've only been able to be in one fandom (as in communicate with other fans of the series regularly) at a time, but I'm sure places like say tumblr where different fandoms can be easily accessed in one place that people participate in many more.
