(Anonymous) 2014-08-05 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)What is this logic? If I provide the fabric, pattern and thread, they should do the work for free exposure??? No sense at all. Biggest cost in anything is TIME. Try hiring a plumber, and they'll find that out.

Since he's already been doing this work for awhile, he immediately was like "WTF IS THIS?", but a lot of the other students thought that was perfectly reasonable. So I was like "You know, as much as I hate to say it, I guess it's sort of preparing them for what it's like to be a professional designer... clients will always try to find a reason they shouldn't have to pay you." -_-
Like I said, I am SO fortunate that I got hired by an institution that pays by the hour instead of having to do the freelance thing.
