Yay, Recettear secret! :D

I'm not the most experienced combat gamer, but I remember thinking Recettear's combat system had an early and steep learning curve (along with feeling a little clunky, though I did play largely on a laptop without a proper desk...). Armoring up and getting fighters with more attack distance was realllly helpful ime.

LOL, combat in Recettear can be insanely difficult. It's a simple system, yes, but that's half of what makes it so hard. There's no finesse to it, so skill basically comes down to 'knowing where the monsters are going to be so you can swing through that point'.

Capitalism, ho!

Use a controller. It seriously makes the combat 100 times easier. Xbox and PS3 controllers are compatible if you have one lying around. I use the SCP DS3 driver for my PS3 controller and never looked back.

SA

Oh, and remember to use the special attacks. The first time I played I didn't even know they were a thing lol. The 1st adventurer has 2 at the start iirc.

Recettear secret! Was not expecting this! :D

Combat is more annoying for some enemies than others, but after a while it all just kinda felt like a grind. :/

You're definitely not alone, anon. I pretty much never make much progress through dungeons and I stopped playing many months ago when I ran out of items to sell and couldn't get any further. I always felt like I was underperforming in the dungeons.
