Huh. I've always pronounced it air-you-dite. I didn't know the other pronunciation was a thing.

Not OP, but I've always said it air-oo-dite. It just seems more erudite, yanno? :p

Yeah, 'air-yoo-dite' is the pronunciation I've always heard (maybe it's an accent thing -- are you British, OP?) And that's also the pronunciation used in the audio books, which is how I read the series, so it didn't occur to me to say it otherwise.

Despite what the second link says, I think you hear both in British English, and if anything 'er-you-dite' might be more common. But it's entirely possible there's a geographical and/ or class element at work.

It feels more significant to me to note that Theo James is such a mumbler, his "Welcome to Dauntless" sounds like "Welcome to Dullness," which made me laugh everytime I saw the trailer.
