I'm starting to feel sorry for the actress. It's pretty obvious that she knows her character is unpopular and that there's a huge following for Ichabbie. Some of the comments she's made have felt like olive branches to the fandom that amount to: "sorry I'm getting in the way!"

Really? That sucks. I actually don't dislike her character but I just prefer other characters and relationships to the ones with her in them. I can see where it would be awkward for her.

That's how I feel too in that I just find everyone else so much more interesting. I know she has a larger role in the story as a whole than love interest, but a lot of the time it seems like she gets stuck as the boring old lost-love-but-maybe-not source of angst for the male lead you see in so many other shows. I wish they'd just made her a powerful witch and left out the soap-opera-y romance angle. But as it is, I kind of drift off during her scenes and wait for Abbie and Jenny to come back on screen.

I hadn't heard about that, but I felt bad for her because the character is so inconsistently written and no one involved in the show appears to actually be interested in her (While the network may push Ichabod and Ichabod/Katrina as The Thing, the actual show seems more interested in the Irvings and Mills [particularly the Mills] and Ichabod sometimes feels like the lovable exposition fairy along for the ride, and Katrina is...there.) The actress is good but not great. She could make the character interesting if she were given better material, but isn't good enough to carry the character without having decent material to start with.

I would like them to give Katrina something more interesting to do next season. I think she has potential! But I'm worried she's going to become the TV Sha're (Stargate SG-1) of the series; motivate the lead male but be spectacularly uninteresting and, eventually, dead.

IIRC, Sha're was at least more consistent.

I agree that Katrina has potential, I just don't really expect them to do anything with it.
