I don't HATE the character, although I think she could have been better done, but unfortunately my main problem is with the performance. The actress isn't terrible, but everyone else is so much more engaging (even small roles like Luke and Mrs. Irving) that she fades into total obscurity. And it COULD have been a really neat role, too. :\

Pretty much this. It's a weakly-written part that the actress doesn't have the chops to save, in the middle of a show that's so ridiculous and tenuous (in a way that I love, I hasten to add!) that the quality of the acting is most of its saving grace.
