hahahhahahhah yes.

I mean, I think my kiddos are pretty awesome, but I've tried so hard to stay away from that Mommy Bragging stuff because it is so annoying.

Truth be told, while I think Josh and I have made some good parenting choices, Emma is mostly just a good kid of her volition and independently of anything we've done.

But, see, i don't even mind bragging about your kid a bit - everyone does that, it's hard *not* to. *I've* done it.

It was just this combination of 'omg, my kids are so perfect!' and 'see how i keep them in line? Dance, my little monkeys!'

I dunno, it just...was very off-putting.

I have real issues with the way that kids lives are regimented now. Some of Emma's classmates have their entire afternoons and weekends scheduled with all these after school activities (and we live in the middle of nowhere, so a lot of these activities involve Driving to Town 40 miles away), and there's a point where I'm wondering whose vicarious dream is being satisfied here.

Man, me too. I don't get that crap. And the parents always take it *so fucking seriously*, like 'we have dance class! Practice! Do it!! You're not trying hard enough!' If you kid cries while doing their 'fun activity'?

Your doing it fucking wrong.

We are on the same page with this one.

All those reality shows on now with the little pageant girls and the girls that dance break my heart. I couldn't imagine treating my kid that way or how I'd feel if my mom treated me that way.

OH, jayzus. I can't even watch that shite. Monstrous would watch sometimes and i'd pause for a moment and some mom is basically forcing her kid to *dye her eyelashes* (no, bleach them) and the kid is *crying* and upset and afterward they're all 'but look how pretty!' and she's just angry and sad and 'i hate them!'

I mean - seriously, how could you fuck your kid around like that?

I can't watch them either; I only catch little snippets of commercials. Bleck.

Man, my mom put me in dance class when I was about three and took me out less than a week later because she realized that I wasn't having any fun.
