philstar22: (Doctor 10 to 11)

I think Amy is sexually attracted to the Doctor. She wouldn't mind kissing him or once or twice possibly sleeping with him when she has doubts about her engagement. And she hero worships him.

But she is completely in love with Rory. Rory misreads Amy's attraction and worship of the Doctor as a threat to him because of his insecurities and because he is kind of in awe of Amy and almost worships her and doesn't necessarily feel worth of her.

I don't mind the Doctor being sexualized, but I mostly don't want to pair him with companions. There always is a power imbalance there and a bit too much hero worship for me to want to ship.

I don't think the Doctor was ever meant to be entirely asexual, though. He had a granddaughter, after all. True, he doesn't have a whole lot of romantic relationships, but I think in the Classic era that was more about being surrounded by mortal humans with really short life spans comparatively and not because he was asexual.

Agreed on all counts ... And thanks for reminding me, I do like his relationship with River (except ... I really didn't care for the way the implied physical aspect was handled: there were a few times he referred to it where his delivery seemed surprisingly childish to me, but moot anyhow).
