That's interesting because I'm almost the complete opposite! If you're referring to the reboot films, I HATED Kirk and Spock in the first film but actually liked them in the second (although I agree that the KHAN! scream was hugely over the top). In the second film, I felt like Kirk was humbler (admitting to Spock that he had no idea what he was supposed to do and desperately trying to do the right thing rather than acting like a cocky frat boy) and Spock was less of a massive asshole to everyone (almost screwing over Uhura's career due to "favoritism" and then choking the shit out of Kirk and NOT APOLOGIZING).

But I do LOVE Karl Urban. He's really the perfect McCoy and I adore him to him to pieces as well. It's weird too because I ship Kirk/McCoy in the reboots but not at all in TOS.

I have only seen the reboots (and an episode of TOS here or there), so I probably missed most of what Kirk/Spock shippers are using to fuel their love of them.


And yes, Karl Urban is the shit.
