Glitches

[personal profile] icecheetah 2014-08-08 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Today I played a game called Amea. And after the second boss I managed to activate a glitch that made it impossible to continue past that part. At first I thought that I could fix it by reloading, but now it won't even let me go back to that boss!

I'd actually say that's a worse glitch than I had ever seen in Skyrim, and in my game skyrim glitches tend to change the plot. But at least none have been the sort that reloading or uninstalling mods can't fix.

So, last time it was funny times you failed at a game, this time what are some of the most amazing glitches that you have ever encountered?

Barely a minute in and that is amazing.

My brother once triggered one in Kingdom Hearts that got him stuck under a platform in the Hundred Acre Woods. The thing was, it was a platform that lowered to the ground, and we weren't sure what would happen when he hit the ground. Fortunately when he jumped that reset something properly, and he fell to the ground normally.

Sometimes the glitches in Fallout 3 amuse me. Like, once I playing New Vegas, right? I was fighting geckos and I turn around to check on Rex and see him go flying straight up in air, out of sight. I'm like wtfing for so long that I forget I'm fighting until a gecko bites my ass. I freak out for a sec and hit the trigger for VATS to give me sec to think. I should just shoot it's head off but I'm using my rifle and it's no good this close. So, I start to exit VATS to switch weapons but exiting VATS freezes me up and this gecko is killing me and I can't switch weapons and Rex is in outer space and MY SAVIOR, THERE HE IS... in glorious slow motion because VATS fucked shit up, Boone leaps down from a ledge above, combat knife in hand, and stabs that gecko in the fucking face. It was the coolest glitchy thing ever.

I never get the fun glitches, but here's one I find amusing.

There isn't a single game where I haven't glitched myself through a wall or the floor, the best time this happens though? Is during a boss fight.

Oh but I did get an amusing glitch in ME2 when I was visiting Liara for the first time on Illium(DLC) and after the cut-scene her secretary, who was sat outside sitting at her desk, was in the middle of Liara's room posed like she was still at her computer desk.

I got stuck between a couple NPCs just after a horrific boss battle the other day while I was on my way to a save point, which was NOT FUNNY AT ALL. But it reminded me of when I was younger, before the internet and FAQs and walkthroughs, and triggered the now infamous glitch in Secret of Mana where you can get back into the village they exile you from in the beginning scenes of the game.

I was like "omg hahahahha I'm not supposed to be able to do this!" and ran around buying stuff from the shops, and stayed and saved at the inn... and then realized that last part was a bad idea when I couldn't get back out.

I tried for like an hour to try to get past the guy who's supposed to keep you out, but was now keeping me in, before I called the Game Counselor Hotline, which was the only way to get gaming help in those days if the answer to your problem wasn't in Nintendo Power or Gamepro. And the counselor was like "...You can't do that." And I was like "TELL THAT TO THE GUY WHO LET ME IN AND WON'T LET ME BACK OUT." Dude was totally stumped, so I had to delete my save file and start the game over, which particularly sucked because it was a rental I only had for three days. :P

really the only skyrim bug that frustrated me seems to be pretty common, and it's in the miasma quest. idr what it's called. you follow that dark elf to vaermina's temple or whatever bc it's giving people nightmares in dawnstar. at the very beginning of the temple theres a sealed door that the elf has to magic away somehow, but in every instance of skyrim i've played (and i've played that game a lot) the door has failed to disappear so you cant follow the guy. easy to fix if youre on pc and know your way around bethesda's console commands, but the bug literally prevents you from doing the quest unless you know how to remove the door with the console.

which reminds me of another more recent bug with the nightingales questline, where karliah wont open the gate in the nightingale temple or whatever that place is. this only happened once to me but it was harder to figure out how to fix, bc you have to follow her to do the quest and if this part bugs out then she stays in place near the entrance. iirc i had to remove the gate through the console and teleport her to my location and just hope it would trigger her to do her thing.

my skyrim game is pretty modded up and mods have their own brand of bugs.
