Good, you know about Free!.

Question. What is the status of shipping in fandom? Is it happy? Are people attacking female characters for being in the way of ships or just being present and therefore a threat? Are there actually legit ships on any end?

I mostly just watch the show but we've had lots of secrets about how wanky this fandom is, and how full of shipping wars it is. So... I suppose if you follow the right people you might have a good time, but if you're too worried about wank just stick to the show?

I haven't seen female character bashing, but again, I don't have much experience with the fandom. I doubt there's much though as there aren't many female characters to begin with, and the ones that are there don't have any shippy interaction with the main characters (Well, with the exception of one or two side characters, and I don't think people mind those; I know I don't, anyway. It's more of an unrequited thing anyway). The guys have plenty of moments with each other but there's no canon gay romance. (Or het, so far. I don't think there will be any canon pairings at all.) If you see slash easily though, this show is full of moments you'll treasure.

Imo it's great fun and well worth watching regardless if you engage the fandom, but if you do maybe stick to the main tags? They were wank free last I checked, but I'm sure that isn't always the case. (Sorry I couldn't be of more help! I've been meaning to check out the fandom more but it hasn't happened yet.)
