I don't think it's reputation is THAT different from other Chuck Lorre sitcoms that are massively popular. Two And A Half Men also get treated like it was the worst thing in the universe when it was in its pomp. There's probably more conflicted feelings about BBT in fandom, but on the whole, this is just the way that certain parts of culture react to certain kinds of shows.

(I do think BBT is much better than Two And A Half Men & not really that bad of a show fwiw)

Unpopular opinion time: I also thought 2.5 Men wasn't that bad.

I thought it was quite bad, honestly. Much worse than BBT. Much more limited in terms of the writing, less interesting and dynamic characters, and just generally less interesting.

Oh, it was definitely nowhere near as good as BBT. But I nonetheless sometimes enjoyed the utter stupidity of it.

Same, I like it. Some episodes I do think are bad (ones that are more... crude for instance) but as a whole I like the show.

I thought the first couple of seasons were bearable (maybe not good, but it got some genuine laughs out of me) and then things just spiraled into straight up terribleness

I actually enjoyed Two and a Half Men (before Sheen left, HATE the new version). Is it well-written? No. Does it have more problematic themes than you could shake a Tumblr at? Yep. But it was funny and easy to watch.
