Write sarcastic descriptions of irritating fanon characterizations

(Anonymous) 2014-08-14 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, where a section of fandom suddenly starts churning out tons of fanfic all depicting a certain character in the exact same weird exaggerated or OOC way? Like woobie!Loki, or woobie!Snape, or dumb!Thor, or Draco in Leather Pants, or Ron the Death Eater, or cutesy!domestic!weepy!Sherlock and John, or Pack Mom!Stiles, etc? Describe those characterization types to vent (or just amuse yourself) about how ridiculous/irritating/weird they are.

But to liven this thread up, try to make your description FUNNY instead of just whiny.

Inspired by a really hilarious description of specific subspecies of Starsky and Hutch from a few days ago, which was apparently inspired by an even funnier description of various species of Krycek from the X-Files:

Cersei Lannister never meant to have all those children killed. She was just sad because she was missing Jaime. That's the only reason she ever had sex with Lancel. Cersei never did anything wrong when she pushed her friend down a well when she was ten years old, why, you can't even prove that was her. Poor Cersei has only ever been a victim and anyone who says differently in sexist. (Wow, I think this is how D&D view Cersei).

Ginny doesn't love Harry she just loves sex. Sex here, Sex there, sex everywhere. I mean what do you expect from girl who had three canon boyfriends with whom she had months/year long relationships with? Oh and she MADE OUT with her boyfriends too. Obviously that means she must be having sex. She also has no problem with using love potions to get Harry to love her. Did you see that part in the books where she was looking at a display of love potion in her brother's shop-obviously she was up to something. After all when someone looks at something in a store for a certain amount of time that MUST mean they used it or are going to. (I once looked at a display for bows and arrows at Dick's for a good ten minutes. Now I'm a bow-and arrow shooting maniac.) And of course she's pretty and popular, and EVERYONE knows those pretty and popular girls are all sluts, right? (Look on the Ron The Death Eater page for Harry Potter, or just go to Fiction Alley Forums for a while. You'll see what I mean)

You just described some corners' fandom opinions of Amy Pond.

Ah

TBH I'm not surprised. It's not hard to imagine a spiteful teenage shipper writing their ship's competition as "the eeeevil slut"

It's been done plenty of times before.

Sad but true.

Indeed.

Weasley hate has always been beyond me. Like I get that they're not perfect but the amount the Weasleys get hated and demonized in fandom just baffles me.

(and if anyone replies with "but they're GINGERS" I will roll my eyes and ignore. Lets be adults now)

Kinda old-school one but:

Ken Hidaka is such an incredibly clumsy moron. It's not like you need good reflexes and some pretty good eye-hand coordination to be a successful J-league goalie. Nah. And those claws? Totally possible to use them while stumbling over your own feet all the time. No big deal.

The problem with irritating fanons is that they're so ridiculous it's hard to be sarcastic about them, unless you just did a Colbert and let them talk.
