What's the last fandom theory you've had that got Jossed by new canon?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-16 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
?

Harry Potter

This is stupid, but I always saw Victoire Weasley (... not really a character, more of a name mentioned in the Deathly Hallows epilogue) as having red hair, but she's mentioned as blonde in JKR's pretend articles.

Also, I always thought Remus's mother was at least part-Italian because of his name, but the new info on him indicates otherwise. Maybe. I was right about him being Welsh, though! (No idea why I thought that, but I was right about it!)

Mine was Harry Potter too

I figured out that Harry was a Horcrux before Deathly Hallows was released, but I didn't get all of the details right.

Proven false by new information in canon.

DA. Named after Joss Whedon, from back in the BTVS days.

I thought Allison was (or more accurately was possessed by) the real main bad in last seasons Teen Wolf.

That would have been a better story tbh, and it made sense given what was shown to us in canon, but nope.

Yea, there was a point where I legitimately thought that was where they were going with it (her losing time, the creepy elevator scene, the bad dreams and hallucinations...) and I was really disappointed when they didn't follow through. I suppose it was just a smokescreen for Stiles, but I would've loved to see Crystal play the big bad for a bit. She easily could've been possessed in addition to Stiles and the two of them could've teamed up, but noooo. The finale was really underwhelming, even if Dylan and Crystal and company were awesome.

Yeah having the two of them be possessed, with Stiles being the more 'obvious' one while she meddled in the background could have worked really well. It also could have been a good opportunity to actually use Allison before her death.

But it was not meant to be.

Most of my crazy theories these days are Haven-based, and with the gradual way that show dispenses answers most of them are less 'Jossed' than 'slowly evolving.' But the biggest one they really Jossed was my theory at the end of season 2 that Simon Crocker was the Colorado Kid.

I guess Final Fantasy VII theories have been "jossed" by the Compilation, but since I don't count that as canon anyway, it's doesn't bother me. Much.

That there's actually something approximating an interesting story behind Agents of SHIELD.

Mine was that Coulson was Skye's father. I mean it could still happen, but given that they hired Mr. Goody-Two Shoes from Twin Peaks to play the role...

The last theory that actually got Jossed by canon was that the ganger stuff from S6 of Doctor Who would actually play a part in that season's finale.

It's small, but from the episode "Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Young Man" from Riders of Berk I formed the theory that Hiccup was born premature, causing his father to overlook him from birth and only his mother fighting to make him a place in the village.
Came how to Train your Dragon 2... turns out I was completely wrong about the parental stereotypes. And that's a good thing, come to think.
