Fall Semester Just Starting?

Has anyone just started back to school? What's your schedule like? Heavy load or taking it easy? How was your first day? Stressfull as fuck or a welcome back?

My first day back was Friday and it was super stressful. I got roped into a creditless extra class I don't really want to take (but am required to) plus I've realized I'm not financially stable enough to take studio classes (we have to buy our own supplies so it's EXPENSIVE) so I'm having to drop them. My online class has a mandatory meeting right in the middle of the introductory class for art history 1 (we didn't learn about the mandatory meeting until the day before class) so I'm going to be missing that.

However, the creditless extra class is a requirement for all art majors (this includes art therapy and art education) so it was kind of awesome to walk into the classroom and see everyone in the art department (small, private school + an unpopular major = only 30-something students).

So yeah, mostly bad with a small silver lining. I'm hoping things get better soon. ;;;;;

Not until the day after labor day. This will be my last year in college, so my mantra for whenever I have to do something I don't want to do is, "It's only until April." My schedule seems to be pretty good as I managed to take some courses online, but I won't be able to tell for the others until I meet my profs. I just hope none of them are assholes. I had a few last term. My mood was so negative that I could barely stand myself, I can only imagine how the people around me felt.

That's good that your first day back wasn't too bad. I'm sure you're not the only one who missed the meeting. I had a prof schedule every meeting in the middle of the day during when I had another class. I emailed him about it and he was nice enough to post transcripts of the meetings (turns out only 1 other person was able to show up for it). So, maybe something similar might happen for yours.

First day with students is Monday. I am super stoked for this semester; I'm teaching a class I love after a hiatus of not teaching it, and I've redesigned my other courses, and I'm excited to see how the students feel about the redesign.

I'm also getting together a curriculum proposal for a service learning course I hope to launch in spring that I think will be really interesting.

Also, I cannot believe your bookstore doesn't have the art supplies for your classes. WTF? That's just bad business on their part even beyond it totally screwing you over. I'm sorry. :(
