Re: Popular fandoms whose hype you don't understand
Also, I have super fond memories of leaving the theater with my family and my MeeMaw admitting that she thought Chris Tucker was a woman the entire movie. LOL
Re: Popular fandoms whose hype you don't understand
(Anonymous) 2014-08-17 02:49 am (UTC)(link)It's supposed to be a parody? I didn't know that, and not sure I quite believe that. It just strikes me as 80s (or early 90s?) type humor and quick action. It's goofy, but overall serious. A lot of movies from that period had the same sort of atmosphere to them, I think. Campy sci-fi.
I loved it, but I watched it when I was a kid. At that time, the humor was legitimately hilarious to me and the plot engaging. I think I would've hated it if I had seen it for the first time as an adult. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing.
Re: Popular fandoms whose hype you don't understand
It came out in the early nineties. And it's not just nostalgia for me because I rewatched within the last two months, and I think it really holds up as a movie.
But YMMV, nonnie.
