she worked security at an airport and went through peoples' luggage and stole their shit, and was a general asshole.

and then you find out she's basically a shitty mom and left her daughter with her grandma and only shows up to cause trouble and give her daughter (stolen) gifts.

nothing wrong with that, black cindy is an asshole. cindy had potential that she wasted not because she had a bad mom or grew up in a chaotic environment as far as we know, she's just an entitled jerk.

That's actually about the only thing I liked about it, that not everyone had to have some super deep and compelling story and sense of justification everyone could relate to.

I think that was kind of the point? It is prison, there are people there who deserve to be locked up, and even ones that have no sympathetic reason whatsoever behind their crimes.

ikr? It was like, here's this hilarious asshole let's dig into her past and oh hey she's pretty much an unlikable, but still hilarious, asshole why did I need to watch this.

I found her a good example of an asshole I'm most likely to meet in my life. I live in a country that's more subtle with their bigotry when compared to America, so Healy and Pennsatucky always seemed a little 'unreal' to me. And Vee, yeah she's a great villain, just like the Joker and Hannibal Lector are great villains, in that I don't think I'll ever meet someone like her in real life. Black Cindy is a very believable dickhead to me for some reason.

I can't help but enjoy her character, though. Even knowing she's a shitty human being, she's highly entertaining.

I liked that they gave her a back story that wasn't totally sympathetic. Most people in prison are probably actually shitty people, not victims of circumstance.

I actually liked her at first, and then her backstory was revealed and just no. She reminds me of my sister who did something similar with her own child (except she left her then 3 month old baby on my lap, and by extension my mom's since I still live at home, but I'm the one who primarily takes care of him). My sister doesn't steal stuff and give it to my nephew but she lives a questionable lifestyle and constantly in bad/dangerous scenarios, plus she has a similar attitude of 'he's okay when he's with me and he loves me best' but no, fuck no. It's not true and that type of attitude is disgusting to me after all I've seen irl with my sis.

TL;DR: My sister fucked up Cindy for me.

I kind of disagree. I thought she came off as flawed but much more human than her snarky act pre-backstory. To be honest, I think it's kind of weird that people on F!S FREAK about real life level jerkassness like cheating on a spouse or being an absentee mother when it's the kind of thing that sucks for someone to do but it hardly makes them a villain.

Yep. I already didn't really like her. Her attitude and personality were too abrasive, but the backstory didn't help at all.
