I don't mind if people like him -- I just wish someone would explain the appeal to me. Especially because it seems like I'm in the vast minority -- most people seem to adore him (again, nothing wrong with that I just don't get it). Heck, I even said "nothing against you, OP" and "no offense to anyone who likes him."

I didn't say anyone who likes him is delusional or hallucinating. Nor do I see how anything I wrote could imply that.

I said that *I* found him inane and boring.

Characters' appeal is rarely something that can be consciously "explained." If you want to change your opinion of him, go snoop on the Tony Stark fanfic and meta of a big fan of his (a non-annoying fan, that is) and try to see him through their eyes. That's what always works for me whenever I find a character uninteresting.

But why would you bother? If you don't like a character, why should you try to bend over backwards to like him when you don't have to. You could just as easily dislike Tony Stark but, say, love Black Widow in the movies and still get something out of it.

Because the "I don't like the character" person that's actually being responded to is actively asking for? Except they're asking for it to be done for them. If they really don't care they're still not going to care when someone goes through the trouble. If they do, they can look at the suggested things.

I find him way too annoying most of the time so you are not alone.
