Fantasy World

Based on the 10th Kingdom secret yeaterday.

So you've been transported to a fantasy relm.
What do you do? How do you survive? Do you have any skills that can transfer across to that type of medievalish environment?

Hope my rudimentary knowledge of modern science, technology, and hygiene is enough to help me survive, I guess.

Either that or hope that people in a medievalish environment enjoy really vivid, enthusiastic retellings of action movies

Story telling is useually a respected profession. At the very least you should be able to exchange a story for a meal.

Telling the plots of movies and TV shows would be mine too. I do that for my friends anyway, so I'd have no problem.

I'd probably look for work as a gardener, or in a bar. And I've got a decent grasp of falconry but I think there'd be competition for that.

I sidekick to a fantasy pro like lickety split. If horror movies have taught me anything, it's that the pro almost invariably sacrifices their life for the moron who can't defend themselves, so if something comes up, I'm in the clear.

I have martial arts ans fencing experience, that can't hurt? Um hopeful in the fantasy world I'll discover my latent magical abilities, yay.

I could work in the equivalent of a library...and introduce the (basic) Dewey Decimal Classification generations early. Hahaha.

I could also be a scribe...once I figured out the language. If I ever did. Not knowing the language might make story telling difficult too, though I'd try. (Unless we're magically able to understand/speak/read the version of English from that time period.)

step 1: determine if there are dragons/evil queens/current wars that are likely to end with me dead.

step 2: move somewhere where there are none of the above

step 3: find work on a farm. i don't think that fantasy world sheep would be much different to real world sheep.

75 percent saltpeter, 15 percent charcoal, 10 percent sulfur. Saltpeter is best found under old heaps of horse manure. Sulfur's most easily found in deposits around hot springs and the like. Grind all ingredients into fine powders, then mix with water to form a paste. Shape the paste into small cakes and let air-dry, then CAREFULLY grind the cakes back down into powder.

I memorized that recipe years ago in case of this exact scenario.

I convince rich lords that they need a landscape architect to improve their estates.

First, determine if I am in peril. Follow appropriate actions (run, fight like hell, run some more, repeat)

If not, I am good at storytelling, singing, dancing, etc--I could go into performance. I am also a good housekeeper. SO I could do that. Or be a cook.

Worst comes to worse, travel around, telling stories, singing songs. Also work as a healer.
