It makes me really uncomfortable to think that someone is keeping tabs on me and will be posting old stuff that I've tried hard to forget. I don't want to see old wank--a lot of which is really hurtful to me personally--dredged up and laughed about. I feel almost physically ill about this, which I'm sure will amuse certain people to a great deal (which is why I'm posting this anon).

I'm neutral on the "okay," but to be fair if it weren't happening here, it'd probably be happening on another comm I can't touch anyway. I've asked them to post things below the games thread as a separate thread at least, so you won't run into it (besides a thread notice, or something) if you browse GC.

Also, maybe you could PM that account and ask them to avoid things with you as a main feature in them? They seem reasonable enough.

Thanks for replying! I'll be careful to not scroll below the games section, hopefully I can try to avoid it as much as possible.

Perhaps that would work, but I'm paranoid that it'd have the opposite effect. Like, they either go out of their way to find stuff that involved me, or maybe even add my request as one of their "memorable moments". I couldn't deal with that, tbh.

Well, if you PM me at the same time and let me know you've asked them not to post stuff that you started (by accident or anything), I can delete it if they try to purposely add it in vengeance or something. That would be directly targeting someone else.

I would say threads started by anons/with mainly anon participants (like Coffee anon, for example) shouldn't be restricted though, since we have no idea who they were...

Whereas I'm one of the anon participants, and I really don't want to see some of those threads again. Mostly because I'm not a troll, and I honestly didn't try to start ANY of the wank I've inadvertently caused.

if you've asked them to post below the games thread then they're already ignoring that. that thread the above anon linked to was posted in gc.

i haven't been involved in wank but i'm not a fan of this thing either, and if they're already going against your request then i think that says it all.

Oh, no, I meant - the posts containing the links that people can comment about the wank to, go under the games thread. So people like anon above won't have to see anybody responding or reacting to the actual wanks, just the notice (like that one).

I think it should be okay, so long as the notice is just "the thread is up [link]" and not "here's the list and detailed descriptions of them" and all.

Who knows, maybe it'll fizzle out after one or two, anyway!

I wanna voice my discomfort as well. No, you can't do something about it on another thread, but does someone really have to drag it around right in our faces? I don't want people starting to harass me again about something that happened more than a year ago and we've all moved on. Besides, the one bit of wank I wound up stirring up was an accident that resulted in death threats... I don't want anyone reliving that, especially not me. This seems like the start to a very slippery slope.

I don't particularly LIKE the idea either, but I also don't think it's really ban worthy, so long as they don't target people or anything. If they let people opt out, I think it's ok - and as I said above, if people try to opt out and they purposely ignore it and post the opted-out person, THAT would be deliberately antagonizing and I can just delete it.

Stuff like the anon Husky Wank would be fine though, I think. That was mostly anon and nobody knew who was who.

No, of course not, but considering how many people are saying that they don't like this idea today, seems like at least one of them would've been here Friday, which is one of the more popular posting days. The fact that not a single person thought it was a bad idea a few days and now the majority of people do is weird, even accounting for not everyone coming here every day.

Because it's totally logical that on one day, all of the people here would be for something, and on another day, all of the people here would be against something. That makes perfect sense, because time zones.
