Meh. The bit near the end? It has literally been three decades since I read the book. :P Still not enough material for what Jackson did with it, IMO.

No. Not arguing with you there.

The first film was a pretty good attempt at working in some Silmarillion. The second film was a fucking fiasco. I look forwards to the third film being mind-numbingly awful and hilarious.

Thorin wheelbarrow-surfing on a literal river of molten gold was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Why is his beard not on fire? Why did they think molten gold would do jackshit against a fucking dragon? Why would anyone add a totally unnecessary twenty-minute action sequence and cut out the part where Bilbo is awesome and plot-relevant? So many questions. So much WTF.
