Ever read terrible fic just because you need a fix?

Feel free to post examples, if you're willing. :)

SA

I'm not gonna post a full example, but I will post a sentence that I love:

"She studied hard in quantum mechanics, including all of the cultures and religions."

Because quantum mechanics is actually anthropology.

Hmmm. That's an embarrassing mistake.

"he punched himself in the face when he felt his genital was flooding itself with blood."

All the time.

It's mostly because I want to see how long I can last reading the fic before I cringe and give up in disgust.

I read a crossover with my Shakespeare fandom. Characters (my fave pairing!) and dialogue were by the Bard himself. The fic author just added some adjectives and adverbs, plus a sex scene. Voila, instant fic.

If it's a rarepair, yes. I have read some of the shittiest Breaking Bad fanfiction just because I wanted to read some Jesse smut (I don't even like Jesse/Walt and I still read a bunch of that because it's what's there).

Oh yes all the time.

"What the fuck were cats supposed to do with a boner?

Shizuo stared down at it and groaned, facepalming with his paw."

I don't bookmark most of the terrific though, so I kind of just binge on this stuff because it's entertaining and yet so interesting. Like that fic I just linked is all over the place in what would normally be some average fluff about half a ship turning into a pet cat. But no, it's filled with that, and also some rape whiplash, and then cat boners, and then fluff, and then angst, and then a scene that would make for such a wonderful climax to a romantic comedy that I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. It's so weeeeeirrrd.

Fuck this I'm bookmarking that fic.

I don't have any examples at hand, but I do this occasionally when I feel a desire to read a particular genre of fic - e.g pretending-to-be-a-couple or amnesia - especially when I'm only in the mood for it from a particular fandom, and thus my choices may be very limited if I don't feel like re-reading the actually good fics of this type I've already come across.
