Should I watch Star Trek Into Darkness?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-20 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I have no real feelings about all the original series. I've seen some from all the series because my dad is a big fan (and sometimes it was the only thing on).

I saw the first new Star Trek movie, and thought it was pretty terrible in a OMG LOL kinda way. But some of the stuff I've heard about the 2nd movie makes it sound worse than the first.

Tl;dr - I'm waffling on watching ST:ID, is it so bad it's good, or is it just bad?

It was worse. Way worse. That plot.... But you may still enjoy it because it is pretty looking movie.

OP here
It can't possibly be worse than the plot to the first one, can it? I mean that was pretty shit.

Yes it can be. Plot holes everywhere.

I liked the first movie, and enjoyed it enough to handwave some of the plot holes. I disliked the second movie, because there were too many plot holes. I mean, there are some BIG STINKING PLOT HOLES. Be warned.

I dozed off in the middle of the second one, in the theatre, during a battle scene. I quite liked the first one but the second did nothing for me at all.

I thought it was worse than the 1st movie. Is it so bad it's good? I don't think so? I was just angry the whole movie.

The second is far worse than the first in pretty much every way. So unless you're really attached to Cumberbatch, you're not missing anything.

eh, if there's nothing else on, go for it. Otherwise not worth it. I saw it for free in theaters and it was enjoyable. But I haven't seen it again.

I think it's casually shitty. It doesn't break my brain but it also felt like a waste of time.

"casually shitty" is a very good descriptor for this movie.

I thought it was a lot less fun than the first, if not necessarily less terrible. Half the movie was just shoehorning in Star Trek references in tone-deaf ways. If you're not a TOS fan, your hate won't burn as brightly as it would have otherwise, but some of the plot elements will make even less sense.

There was some enjoyably terrible wtfery but mostly it was boring. I would have no regrets if it were erased from my brain tomorrow.
