You did?! Please, please pretty please link me. :)

And yes, it's a 1990s-era novel, "Crime in the Cards".

If by link me you mean to the fanfic--gurrrl, this is OLD school fanfic, as in I was in 5th grade and writing it on lined school paper :) Oh God, it was TURRIBLE--it was the Hardy Twins, the younger twin sisters of Joe and Frank (I was obsessed with the Bobbsey Twins as well as the HB), and we (I mean they ;) were Little League heroines and pitched no-hitters and the umpire was a criminal and they saved their older brothers and it was all pretty awful.

BUT! I have read pretty much every adult book there exists about the Boys, including Ghost of the Hardy Boys (Leslie McFarlane's autobiography--he wrote many of the texts in the original Stratmeyer series) and...oh, I can't seem to find the title right now but there was a fairly recent book that was like an adult HB novel. I think Joe faked his death and they lived in Paris or something? I read it but now I can't remember it.

God, I loved those books! I still remember them so fondly. The Clue of the Hissing Serpent was awesome, I picked up a ton of chess trivia from that one. And The Witchmaster's Key was great. Haven't read any of the newer series, I should check it out.

Incidentally, I just remembered. You know how "The Secret of Flight 101" has been regarded as generally the shittiest one of the original 60 or so? Well, "The Case of the Psychic's Vision" in the 1990s-era series managed to beat it for being utter shite.

(yeah, OP goes back and looks at old secrets, heh)
