Re: What is the sign of someone being rich to you?

You don't even have to go near the poverty line. My family has skirted pretty close a few times, but generally we bounce up and down middle class.

Not only do people "my" class seem rich to me, people who come from families with incomes less than mine confound me and seem rich to me, even understanding that they don't have seven-digit debt like mine does.

How can you be so casual about going to the doctor's office - don't you know how expensive that is? Why are you doing your grocery shopping at X Store when you can get nearly twice as much food for the same amount of money at Y Store just a few blocks away? Why would you pay for that textbook you know you won't need it often and that your library has? How do you not feel guilty asking your parents to completely pay for something as non-essential as a concert ticket, or a new laptop/phone/tablet when your old one was working fine? I feel bad enough asking them for help with paying for college.

I mean, right now, I'm sitting at a Starbucks and drinking the smallest caramel frappuccino they have...to treat myself because I just got my paycheck and I got a lot done this week (and because I'm trying to wait out the traffic). I don't understand how anyone eats or drinks here on a daily basis, but apparently that is a Thing some people do. o.O

I love how rich-definition anon is abjectly refusing to respond to anyone except me.

I don't blame you - I wonder who they are and why they seem so pissed at you rather than what you and everyone else are actually saying. :P
